Farming

Today was so nice and sunny that we decided to go out for the day. We had never been there before but decided to go to Manor Farm.

It was a very exciting day full of lots of lovely animals to feed and pet. At times both Baby and Toddler didn't like certain bits of the day but on the whole they had a lot of fun. Baby lets us know when he does not like somewhere or something with a shake of the head and a little "No No!" At one point we wandered into a couple of stables and each time we heard this little catchphrase. When Toddler was uncertain she just held back.

Both Wife and I grew up rurally but are probably a bit more townie now, and the little ones certainly are. We didn't even take are wellies. So one highlight of the day for the kids was holding some animals, well Wife held them whilst they stroked a duckling, a chick and a rabbit.

We had a good play around the whole place, there were a lot of piglets there and lots of chickens and other fancy fowl to feed, as well as an old school house where a young girl pretended to give us a lesson.

We finished the day off with the milking of the cows. The farmer invited children to have a go at hand milking. Toddler was not keen, but I was, and so as she was not happy to be my cover I had to ask for a turn after all the children. For some reason I have always wanted to milk a cow and now I have. It was not quite the same as it looked like on Emmerdale but the cow was nice and helpful and so I was not shown up as a failure.

Shortly after my milking the fire alarm went off but not for long and before we knew it we were back in the farm bottle feeding the calves, they were right greedy chaps. A nice family farming day.
