New plans

This morning we (Mary really) visited the birthing centre in Lusangazi to meet the St John's Hospital medical workers, delivering a programme in home based care.
Mary has been supporting the group here for the past two years and even though we don't shout about alot of these little supports, they are so important to the people themselves and the community volunteers who support them.
The pic shows Lillian, the birth attendant (and so much more), talking to Mary and the the pastor who is part of the team from the Hospital.
The community have campaigned to the Ministry to have a health post in the area and have been granted a nurse and an assistant, subject to having a house for them and a clinic. We are now in discussion with the community for a site and working on exactly what level of support, they, themselves can provide.
The birth centre is now a focal point of much community action as well as many health functions that are performed here. Exciting times ahead.
The only jeep the hospital has now is one provided by the Irish Government!!
