Colorful carpet

The needles shed by this deciduous conifer tree created a very large and colorful carpet on the ground all around the tree. It's amazing how much color is still to be seen in the November woods. I think the tree may be a larch. Do any of you blippers know for sure? It was a bright spot on a very grey day.
