Church of St Simon and St Jude

A Benjamin Mountford designed church of kauri which was consecrated by Bishop Harper in June 1871. Church services stopped around 1966 and in 1973 the church was saved from deomolition by local residents. Over the next few years the church was restored and interdenominational services were conducted each month by a variety of guest preachers. Today this historic church is kept open for visits and prayer during daylight hours.

The church is surrounded by trees making it very differcult to get a good shot - it will be a good one to revisit during the four seasons, with autumn colour, a clear view in winter, spring blossom in spring and the lovely greens of summer. Today its late spring with summer in a week.

I've slowly been catching up with blip after having our delightful Daughter A home - if you would like to see the backblips they start here.

I'll pop in and visit your journals over the next few days - hope your all having a wonderful weekend :)
