Settled for an apple this morning...love a fresh red apple for breakfast...delish! I like red ones...

My favorite apple dessert - definitely apple crisp...so good...straight out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream...comfort in a bowl!

Apple Crisp
1.5 cups all-purpose flour
1.5 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts (pecan or walnut)
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 lemon
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1.5 cups unsalted butter
2 quarts peeled, cored and sliced apples (about 10 apples)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine the flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. Cut butter into mixture until crumbly. Add vanilla.

Take half of the mixture and pat it into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with nuts. Cover crumb/nut mixture with apple slices. Cover apples with the juice of 1 lemon. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Cover apples with remaining crumb mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender.
