Jumping Cholla

Pronounced: Choy - a.
With the right light, a Teddy Bear Cholla's spine-filled pods can look like soft fur.
Get too close to one of those furry little pods, and you'll be sorry. The cholla attaches to skin or clothing, like a rabid dog. And,Get this, a whole bunch of those spines make contact with your skin at once. Then the tips actually curve locking their spines in place just underneath the skin's top layer. OUCH!
