Still Aflame

For most of the year, the ocotillo looks more like a cluster of sticks, than a living plant. But in the spring and summer the tips of these 8 footers are aflame with bright red flowers.
Yet, now in November, one stem of one ocotillo hangs on to spring.I wonder why?
Now, I don't usually wonder about plants. Well, maybe I wonder, but I don't photograph my wonderment. You probably thought I was a "flower girl" because you've seen some living green portraits from me. Truth, I've never photographed a flower until blip. The set up is a turn-off: reflectors, flashes, and worst of all the tripod. With blip, I stopped worrying about the "correct way" to photo flowers and just "Did it".
