American Style

I realized one big difference between the food I grew up with and Thai food is that with American food, we often mix our meat, starch, veggies and sauce together and let it cook as one dish. Obviously there are exceptions, hamburgers, steak, etc., but many casseroles, pastas, and others are all mixed up.

This observation hit me as some students and I were making macaroni for dinner tonight. Our veggies, meat, sauce and pasta were all cooked up and thrown into the wok to mix the flavors a bit, and then we were done. As simple as that.
