Fruit?

We stopped at Marble Hill today but there were no robins in sight. Sad, but maybe there will be one on the way home on Saturday.

Instead I took a photo of these fruit things. They were growing all over a number of the beech trees - and I have no idea what they are. They were in all stages of growth from tiny hard pink balls to these open yellow/orange things - their texture was weird, all sort of squishy but firm - a bit like an overfilled sponge. Very strange.

Anyone able to identify them for me?
