North Berwick

This was the view as we walked down from the station to the beach at North Berwick.

I'd woken up at 10, seen the sun at my window and decided to go somewhere. After looking up train times, I cajoled Poppy into accompanying me with promises of seaside and tea in teashops.

The weather was fantastic - really really wild with amazingly strong winds, with moody skies over Fife to the north and patch of bright sun and shadow as the clouds raced overhead. After walking along the front to the harbour, we settled in a café called "Charlies" for soup and a pannini before climbing the Law.

The Law is a 180m high hill, made of the same basalt intrusion as Arthur's seat, and has amazing views across the bay to Edinburgh and to Fife, as well as to the east - you can just make out Dunbar. It was so windy we were blown up to the top, and you could lean at almost 45 degrees and still be supported. Poppy was almost blown away and had to hold onto some whalebones placed on the top for support.

Once back home, went to Lucas' for tea and carrot cake. They've done a naked photoshoot for their flat with well placed flower pots, looks really good. Then made a vegetable pasta for everyone, before going to to boys flat before heading out. Was the first time I'd been to the 'Big Cheese' since freshers week more than a year ago; it was as bad as I'd remembered. Free entry at least. Was in bed by 12:30.

Changed the photo for this photomerge - wasn't too sure of the other one.
