Rushy River

Although the night was very blustery and wet the day was cold, bright and sunny. Taking advantage of this welcome day of sunshine, we drove out to Buchanty Spout hoping to see some salmon leaping, the last of them this year. It was obvious the river was in spate, but undeterred we slithered our way down the wet, muddy path to the rocks, normally very visible, but today washed over by the raging River Almond.
We watched and waited but the river was too fast and too full for any salmon to attempt the leap. Just then, a photographer who had been standing further down on other rocks, came over to chat. He had seen some salmon last weekend, about 30 he thought unless of course it was the same one or two trying their best to negotiate the leap. On that day the rocks had been uncovered and free of water.
The fast flowing water was beautiful but a little scary.
