Go the mass is ended

Go the mass is ended
Children of the Lord
Take his word to others
As you've heard it spoken to you

You've gotta laugh. Looks like they're running for the hills. Callum was running to get his longed for cookie at the welcoming party they hold after each mass. And Reuben's first words when we walked in late were "I like church!". Feels like it's been a long time since we've been here. Always good intentions. I feel very at peace within these walls as if little else matters.

I love this luminous transitional light just as you're stepping out of church at St Monica's. A few steps further back and your colours are wonky, your ISO too high, a few steps ahead and you're in blazing sun (today 82F in Los Angeles and here's me hoping for snowy mountains for a boys' shoot this week). It's a perfect place to capture the bride and groom emerging from the ceremony, even light and even skin tones devoid of unflattering shadows.

For dinner, we enjoyed the belated Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Hey don't knock it. The turkey was 1/2 price and fresh.

Happy First Sunday of Advent. And where Christmas ended last year with The Epiphany

Today I've been thinking of Gary Speed and his family. The priest had talked about his own bouts of depression unrelated to the tragedy. He went on to talk about how Good Friday would be unbearable were it not for the promise of Easter. How desperately sad when such an illness, sometimes undetectable from the exterior, takes over to such an extent that the promise of brighter days escapes a tortured soul. My prayers go out to his family.
