Life in Newburgh on Ythan

A new glass cube

This is Aberdeen University's new £57 million Library. Described as a 21st century space for learning and research, the 7 floor library caters for the Arts, Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences. It replaces the Queen Mother Library, the concrete monstrosity to its immediate left, as you look at the photograph, which will soon be demolished. It was built in the 1970s - let us hope that the new library will enjoy a longer useful life!

The building was designed by the Danish architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen and looks better zoomified.
