Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

Pull thyself together lad!

Time for another self portrait I reckon. So, given the season, here I am playing a rather minor role in a 1948 Sunday School production of Dick Whittington. (I'm the one on the left, just in case there is any doubt!)

They certainly knew how to toughen up a young tyke in post-war Yorkshire. Dress him up in girly silks and a daft hat, get him to paint the lips of a bloke dressed in a dress, with a hairnet and socks stuffed in his bra, photograph the whole sorry event and then publish it in the local newspaper. After that he'll be ready to face owt that might come his way, however traumatic!
