Tour of Japan

Vending machines are everywhere. There seems to be vending machines on every street, selling drinks or cigarettes.

This photo was taken at a restaurant in Shinjuku. At the entrance you put money in the machine and make your choice. It then prints out a ticket. If you're lucky the ticket has a number on it, if you're not the name of the dish is written on it, in Japanese of course. You then give your ticket to one of the chefs. When your meal is ready they call you up to collect it (I find it easier to recognise numbers than the name of a dish I've never heard of).

Seems pretty simple but the trick here is in your selection. If you're not really careful in your choice then there is no telling what you'll receive. I swear those colours mean something!

Goes to show that the choice of food out here is vast! I've not even had sushi once.
