Sgwarnog: In the Field

By sgwarnog

72 Hours Later (or 365+3)

It may be a tad self-indulgent to revisit a blip that is only three days old, but I thought you might like to see how my catkin 365 has fared over the weekend.

Considering it's in plain sight on campus, it's survived quite well. Either a strong gust of wind or an errant boot has dispersed the 3, but otherwise as I left it. Apart from the snow of course, which will have helped to freeze it into place last night.

The snow arrived at 8 yesterday evening, and although only a centimetre or two was there in the morning, it was enough for us to wake up to a white world.

snow falling at night ~ white settling in the darkness ~ bright stars all around

black cat ~ white paws ~ tasting the first snow

We didn't think it would be too disruptive, and then a blizzard arrived from nowhere, just as were heading out. A few hours later the sun was out, and the snow in town had disappered by lunchtime.

bright winter sun ~ chasing snow ~ into puddles ~ waiting ~ for the ice of darkness

city streets ~ slick ~ with meltwater ~ knee deep ~ in winter lights

Having returned home, I find but there's still a thin crunchy layer on the moor tonight, with more expected. As I write I can see gritters passing up and down the moor road.

frozen in time ~ as the year ~ moves on ~ the fluidity ~ of permanence
