Snow Relief

soft snow
glistening
like hard quartz

The beginning of a thaw yesterday, but now frozen again. The snow adopts a different relief of hillocks and depressions, with a crisp surface. When the sun is up, it is throwing long shadows - we're only a couple of weeks from the shortest day now.

Today's image is ambiguous in scale. Sometimes when we focus our attention to small detail, we get a similar effect to that of looking at landscapes from above, from the depths of space. This though is a small hummock on our back lawn.
