Deschutes River Fog

My path to work each day takes me into, then out of, the Deschutes River Gorge.

Just as the mountains make their own weather, the river has its micro-environment trapped within the canyon walls.

On really cold mornings the bright clear day changes to dense fog for a mile or so at the bottom of the gorge along the river.

The gap in the skyline behind the trees is where the river has cut through the plateau on its way north and east to the mighty Columbia River.
