Evenen Light

... An' I'd a-lost the zun vrom view,
Until agean his feace med rise,
A-sheenen vrom the eastern skies
To brighten up the rwose-borne dew;
But still his lingren light did gi'e
My heart a touchen jay, to zee
His beams a-shed, wi' stratchen sheade,
On eastward wall an' tree.

William Barnes, the Dorset dialect poet.

Very rarely does one hear the full dialect spoken in this day and age. Our P who helps T on a Tuesday often uses the old ways of saying and describing things and the odd word. It is so good to hear it.

A day of domestic chores, nothing of note! I shall catch up with the blips one day as this is again a backblip!
