Demented Friday

Friday night and the last weekend before Christmas. The city was bursting at the seams, at any rate the pubs were. At 10:00pm there was a traffic jam on Union Street. not usual even for a Friday. Taxis few and far between.

We had our Finance Christmas dinner, hence I was in the centre of town on an evening when otherwise I would probably have stayed away. Pubs were more than busy, and the restaurant was struggling to keep up. It was a shade like one of those TV programmes where the novice restauranteurs fail to cope with the service.

In the bar things were slightly less busy, and I was able to converse with the person standing next to me by sending text messages to each other. It was easier than trying to communicate by voice.

We had a hat theme for the evening. Some very strange hats were on display, and I have to say a fair amount of talent and imagination on display as well in their design.

So that s all the office Christmas parties out of the way until next time.
