Good day

The day began with an as-usual viewing of the Hollyoaks omnibus on TV (brilliant stuff, finishing with the death of Max, one of the stalwart characters). Carl's painter is due to start work on tomorrow. Four test patches of varying colours hadn't led to a definitive decision, so we went back to the décor centre with a revised idea in mind. Carl took the plunge and bought enough paint to cover the feature wall at home. An abortive attempt to suss out a new ironing board was followed by a trip to Marks & Spencers to take advantage of a discount voucher one of the guys at yesterday's funeral had given me (the poor old car was rather weighed down on the way back afterwards).

Neighbours of Carl's had suggested to him that we meet up over the weekend, and we did that between 6.00 and 8.00 pm or so. We thought they'd already gone down to the pub, but there was no sign of them when we got there, our search having even included a trip up to the well-appointed smoking area even though neither of our friends is a smoker (the blip was taken at the top of the stairs to the smoking terrace, complete with its mirrored wall on the right). They joined us soon afterwards, and we had a really pleasant time together until I left them to it and came back home with the intention of finalising print-ready artwork for the job I've been working on. I have to admit that I didn't follow through on my intentions, opting instead for a bite to eat, a bit of music, and early retirement to bed. The alarm was set for 6.45 to allow catch-up.
