Sunset Shard

Gordon peering through a thick chunk of frozen puddle at the end of a quiet day. We took our usual walk out from West Barns towards the beach, but the field was so much fun that we got no farther.

Large Shard.

Although I'm old enough to regret disturbing nature's wonders (quiet music...), Gordon isn't. So he gleefully smashed every puddle in sight (loud guitars!). Then he got a bit more selective and tried for big pieces. Here's his biggest, with a lovely curve running through, moulded from the field beneath.

We got home filthy and cheerful after a lot of grubbing for bigger chunks in freezing mud, so the washing machine is spinning away and the hot chocolate and popcorn has gone down very well.

More from the walk on Flickr.

The children arrived home this morning from their sleepover at Red and Mo's house. Dotty and I shuffled around gingerly in case anything made noise. Not even a loud noise - fragile.

P.S. "we got no farther," is correct. The alternative, "we got no further," is for non-physical progress, such as, "hangover cures have got no further."
