Hej då, SAAB Automobile

Portrait of a Motor Car
Carl Sandburg

It's a lean car, a long-legged dog of a car, a gray-ghost eagle car.
The feet of it eat the dirt of a road, the wings of it eat the hills.
Danny the driver dreams of it when he sees women in red skirts and red sox in his sleep.
It is in Danny's life and runs in the blood of him, a lean gray-ghost car.

The ever powerful, General Motors, bailed out by me, and every American tax payer has nixed the plans for a future for Saab Automobile. No funding from any Chinese car company investors will be allowed. It's been a long and sickening roller coaster ride these last months. A twisted soap opera, leaving so many in Sweden and the rest of the world without jobs. They now have no more chances to showcase innovative technology and cars designed with safety first that could really GO when necessary.

Think Different, you were different, Saab, and you have been a part of me all of my adult life. Perhaps you can rise like a phoenix from these ashes, but it certainly looks grim this morning. I am very sad.

A lean gray-ghost car, a Saab that was and those that might have been will always ride with me.

Griffin Up!

Saab hits the end of the road.

For the Record,
This day came in as the coldest morning so far in December, 14 degrees, F with bright sun.
