The things we don't see

So today started early enough for me and Girl who wandered into our room very early stating that she could not see anything as it was dark. I raced her back to her room so as not to wake Boy up fully. She then decided that she was not talking to me and sat underneath the steps to the big old bed she sleeps on at Granny and Grandpa's house.

Eventually she forgave me for not taking her straight downstairs (even though she didn't tell me thats where she wanted to be) and we headed on down. We engaged in some bartering meaning we ended up in front of the telly until the rest of the family presented themselves before starting the day fully.

The little ones and the ladies went visiting friends, where girl learnt how to approach a dog to let it sniff you, whilst Grandpa and I went into York in hunt of photos. Grandpa was a bit theworldover hungry, whilst I was more street based on the hunt for a festive image that may win a Boxing Day competition (if it happens).

Early on I saw this lady on a bench with striking red hair, that looked a bit Christmassy (you can't really tell in black and white). As I went to take the picture Grandpa caught sight of a man roasting his chestnuts and wandered into shot. Unbenounced to Grandpa I think he got a little too close to the red head for her liking as she pulled a face at him in his oblivious state. It made us think just how many faces get pulled at us without our knowledge?

This evening we had a friend pop round for a drink. Grandpa bemused him with a failed card magic trick (it must have been the new cards) and then Boy, not to be outshone, completed his own trick and made his dinner reappear at the table.

Also tonight we have been preparing for the visit of the big guy. We have unwrapped our Christmas Eve new pyjamas, got the stockings out and left a mince pie carrot and drink at the ready by the chimney. Its very exciting especially now girl is understanding it all a bit this year.
