Searching The Water Of Leith...

... for a kingfisher!

Katkatkat suggested that, if it was fine, we could take a walk down the Water of Leith to a place where kingfishers reliably perch! Oh! The shock! The fallen tree had been removed, the pool created by the temporary dam was no more!

Ah, well! It stayed dry and I got several very different shots to choose from. I had stalked this heron, creeping ever closer till it decided to take off.

After lunch The Man and I took off for home. Beattock was nastily sleety with a whiteness across the road. We've had an incredibly wonderful time with our two Daughters but now it's time to make ready for our own special New Year entertainment in the best way we know how!

There will be fun, there will be DVDs, there will be food and drinks, there will be crackers. After that there will be red balloons followed quickly by purple balloons, buubbly, cake and candles!
