Life's Little Moments

Happy New Year from the Hot LZ

It is already 2012 for some of my friends out there in the world - for the rest of us, mere hours left until the new year. Wow, wonder what the next 12 months will bring?

Seymour begged me to blip him today, but I gently told him "no." Can't risk over exposure of the little furry one after all. Plus, frankly, he is starting to make demands, behave like a bit of a prima donna. Can't have it...

Hubs and I went to The Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge today and had a great time wandering about for several hours. We were hoping to see some wildlife, but we were there towards the middle of the day which is a quiet time for most creatures. We did, however, come across this big pond with ducks and geese. The refuge has built huge bird blinds so you can watch the birds without disturbing them - really cool. As we stood there in the blind watching the geese paddle around, this bunch headed in. I fired off a bunch of shots as they were "on the approach" and decided that this one was perfect for wishing in the New Year. Whether we like it or not, we are headed into the year at full speed - a bit like landing in a Hot LZ (Landing Zone, in military-speak.) Not quite sure what will be awaiting us, but hoping for good things to eat and a soft spot to land. Geese ... a metaphor for life? Or maybe my imagination has compltely gotten away from me ... hard to tell.

Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year! See you next year, people.
