Pyrotechnician

Fireworks are a big deal in Mexico, they are used in many celebrations but usually they are the small, individual kind. We were pretty excited then to see a big firework structure (a castillo according to our neighbor) being built on the beach earlier in the day and made plans to return to watch a "real" firework show at midnight. Sure enough when we reached the spot right before the new year dawned, there was a big crowd waiting for the show to start. It started right on time, rare for Mexico, with the lighting of the fireworks affixed to the castillo. Once it was going full blast, the guy in this shot, who I think was one of the pyrotechs, moved down the beach to start the aerial show, which went off directly over our heads.
