Innocence

A sleeping hedgehog baby. A moment before this it was lying on its side, but I disturbed it and it rolled onto its back. Another one buried itself deeper into the leaves.

I found these tiny babies while I was searching the place where the lizard colony was. I have not seen a lizard there for more than a week. I was so interested to see the developments when the three pregnant females gave birth. It looks like I have baby hedgehogs instead. They are very cute, but I'm disappointed about losing the lizards. The young praying mantis on an exposed leaf nearby is as yet unharmed.

Today I went to Christchurch and brought my daughter, FirehorseMia, back with me. She needs a break from earthquakes and I will enjoy having her here.
