Choosing paint colours

The little floral bin on the work top has the same pattern as some curtains I want to reuse in our study. I need to choose paint for the new cupboards and friends who've just painted their kitchen have used a Farrow & Ball Lamp Room Grey on their cabinets so I went to see how they look together. I like it but think I might paint the insides this colour and use a darker grey/green for the outsides. I'm trying to strike a balance between the feminine curtains and making the cupboards a bit more masculine ..... if you know what I mean.
