One of my favourite trees

I didn't particularly feel like going to work this morning after yesterday's events but it did help to take my eyes off things. There hadn't been much more damage overnight, I am mightily relieved to report!

I love this slender, graceful silver birch in all seasons. Today it was catching the sunlight. The garden doesn't get much sun in the winter, so that makes this tree stand out more - its surroundings are mostly in shade.
