Life through the lens...

sunset

A better day today. Wind has dropped and the sun came out.

We have been over to Blacktoft Sands, to see the birds come in to roost.
Didn't get any good photos of the birds, but when we came out of the hide there was this amazing sunset.

I wanted to get something into the foreground of the shot so knelt down in the grass to get this hemlock seed head in the picture.
A lady passing by wanted to know what I was doing, and said she thought this shot was the best of the ones I had taken.
( Didn't tell her it would be going on Blip!)

It was marvellous to see all the birds coming in just as the sun was going down.
2 or 3 Hen Harriers, 12 or more Marsh Harriers, Lots of geese, pink foot and Greylag, hundreds of lapwings, and 5000 golden plovers (I didn't count them, but someone in the hide said thats how many there were !)

We are not twitchers by the way, just enjoy watching the birds and like nature.
The changing colours of the reeds as the sun was going down was beautiful too.

A lovely afternoon, followed by fish and chips on the way home.
Fantastic!!
