investigations of a dag

timber..

A day of felled trees. First the pavements littered with forlorn pines like a Christmas tree cemetery then the mighty toppled barks in the botanical gardens. Sad but impressive to see how such huge sturdy forms can tumble.

Think I finally understand why my dad used to try to plant old Christmas trees in the garden rather than chucking them. Not sure it was just that he begrudged the cost and the waste, think like me he had a wee tug of sentiment about it. Two trees survived and are round their back garden still.

Also - there's a very good Maya Dreyen retrospective on at Inverleith house in the centre of the gardens. Inspiring stuff.

walked home watching a chilly sunset and listening to this.
wish I could shake this cold off but a nice day.
