Kanuka Flower

Mt Iron day and flat lighting. I got tangled up early on with grass burrs which are very bad on the lower slopes. The Boss said I will be on lead for the first part of the walk for a while and spent 20 minutes with a wire brush cleaning me up when we got home. The Kanuka is a relation to Manuka and both thrive here. My friend Peter says the Kanuka flowers first and there are plenty of these on the mountain. The flowers are about 5 mm and smother the bush like snow.
