As it is

Our solar system

We've been working on and talking about the planets for quite a long time now. It's been almost a year since we first started talking about them, we've made papier mâché models but then didn't finish them. It does mean we've talked about size and order quite a lot. We've talked gravity and orbit, distance from the sun, general composition, and finally moons. Inspired by a very crude and totally inaccurate picture a friend had done - it wasn't ever meant to be to scale, he'd asked for the moon with stars and then the planets - the girls decided they wanted to do one and put it up. They looked at the colours, the sizes, and order. We also looked at distances between, but it's pretty tricky to actually get it all proportionate when you're only 6 and nearly 4. This is what we ended up with. We used handmade paper for the background, tissue paper, acrylic paint, glitter and tinfoil for the planets, and finally a hole punch to make the moons for each planet - totally not to scale just an indicator of numbers.
