journey's end...

... at Marangu.

27 hours and 34 km (21 miles) after being on the summit. Yes, we did stop to sleep on the way. A little.

One of the fun angles to the climb is that you start and finish in rainforest, but it's Arctic (literally) at the summit.

Thanks to my son Mark. He helped with advice on Diamox and other high altitude stuff, as well as some vital bits of kit.

Thanks to Dagmar. She made sure I had the best possible medical preparation, as well as contributing experience by helping me up a couple of wee Alps in September. Then there's all the support & encouragement too!

Thanks to the the guides (Jonas, Prosper & Jackson), the cooks (Aloise & Ernest) and the 20+ porters. I could not have done it without them, and particularly the extra support on those last 2 km from Gillman's Point to Uhuru Peak. Great job, guys.

Thanks to all my sponsors - and there are many. Wonderful response.

Thanks to the other climbers - Mairead, Sue, Bill, Ken & Trevor. We stuck together over 7 very tough days.
