A time for everything

Freezing rain

Saturday
This is what we woke up to this morning - everything covered/encased in a layer of ice - it was very pretty, but treacherous underfoot. I just ventured as far as the front yard for photographs, treading very gingerly on the footpath. Walking on the grass was like walking on creme brulee - crunchy on the top, soggy underneath! It was probably a good thing it was a Saturday, otherwise it would have been a dreadful rush-hour. I don't know if it got above freezing all day, and yet they say tomorrow is supposed to get up to 50F! It's a really bizarre winter - usually by now we have had, or are in the midst of, a prolonged spell of often a couple of weeks where the temperature never goes above freezing. This winter I don't think we've had more than a couple of really cold days before the temperatures have warmed up again - it's like being on a roller coaster! We stayed home until late morning, then ventured out as far as the "Y" to get some exercise. A quiet afternoon reading and doing some ironing, then in a little while we are going out to get some Chinese food.
