Malvern Hills

Early in the morning there was still a lot of snow on the mountains, but much of it vanished during the day. Now the clouds have lowered and the mountains themselves have vanished. Large

I blipped this scene in the spring when the oilseed rape was in flower. It was harvested a few days ago.

It's been a chilly day, more like late autumn than summer. This feeling has been reinforced by drifts of yellow leaves from nearby poplars that are casting off their lower leaves to conserve moisture. Months of gloomy weather does not mean that the soil is getting enough water.
