Winter Gathering

After RCB had stalked his bird in Fort William it was off to meet up with my climbing / skiing / poetry reading friends, then off to the Roy Bridge Memorial Hall to set up for Mick's talk. Once the chairs were laid out and projector and sound system checked it was across the road for a bite to eat and a couple of pints.

Back to the hall for the talk and the queue was out the door when we arrived. As ever it was well attended, mind you, Mick organising our Winter Gathering to coincide with his talk does give the numbers a wee boost! This year's subject was Canada in war and peace, The War portion focused on the Lovat Scouts training during the Second World War along with some of their history and their many local connections. One local connection being the hat that Kathy is pictured modelling which belonged to the grandfather of one of the attendees.

After a break for refreshments the second half was the Peace portion which provided Mick with the opportunity of showing off some of his slides from the many climbing trips he's organised in Canada. An excellent evening and once we'd cleared up the hall it was back across the road for another couple of pints of course.
