Alice Belts

If you type in Alice Belts in google images, you get this image appearing 4 out of the first 5 results. It is taken down the lane that leads to the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall and just next to the Trongate 103 art centre.

Regular passers by will know that I have blipped a few of the blue plaques that are scattered across the Merchant City. This one, as you can see, refers to the Music Hall where Stan Laurel made his debut in 1906 aged 16.

The initial plan was to blip a close up shot of the plaque like I've done with the others. But you are instinctively drawn to the ghost signs surrounding the plaque and so the plan changed! Having looked on google images, I can see it is quite a popular shot, with flickr groups and sets of these particular signs.

In some of the olders photos, the whitewashed square panel is not as bright as it is here and I have no idea why anyone would have thought to repaint it and give it another coat - unless of course someone has daubed graffiti underneath the plaque.
