90 Mile Beach

As the girls didn't get to go fishing yesterday due to wind, it was their turn this morning. Sadly, still a little windy, so it was cold and bumpy, and to make matters worse yesterday great spot was off. No fish at all.

Back mid-morning and the weather wasn't looking that hot. So we decided to head to Cape Reinga for the day.

3 cars and 10 people later we set off, electing to drive form just north of Awanui right up 90 mile Beach to Te Paki stream. 70km of beach driving, what a blast! Highlights were James getting a puncture, and stopping the cars on the beach, only for a wave to sweep in and surround our cars, we quickly moved them once the wave receded!

Then up Te Paki stream which was a blast and finally we climbed the sand dunes and jumped/rolled/sand boarded down them. Kids loved it.

Up to Cape Reinga, the north most lighthouse in NZ and then home, all slightly hungry as it was 4pm and no lunch!

Home, another fishing trip with the boys, back at 9pm with ni success and a later dinner.

Last day tomorrow before II head to the US, To be honest, staying here is quite appealing!
