Bawdy Burns

Yes, it's Burns night again! With it will come a plethora of tributes to the Bard.

I'm going for the twist. The book we never saw at school.

Robert Burns was only 37 when he died. As a young man of today has a collection of porn and Rugby songs up his sleeve, Burns had written and collected poetry and song, that was rude and crude and was kept under lock and key in a draw. It's the side of the Bard that many prefer to ignore but, nevertheless, his collection was published in the form of a book, titled The Merry Muses of Caledonia.

When I first found this copy, very little was available online and the book was certainly was almost unheard of. Today you can have a read through this raunchy work here.

Warning! X rated. The verse I've posted behind the book is one of the cleaner ones.

Are you eating Haggis tonight?
