Malvern Hills Revisited

The other day when I went up into the Malvern Hills to take photos of the snow on the mountains I looked out the other way and saw this scene. I knew I'd have to go back. This is largely a man-made landscape. The hills were rounded by the plough and the colours were made by crops that are growing or have been harvested, or different areas that have been grazed. Dark pines are growing in gullies or as shelter, and gorse gathers in difficult places. There is not so much as a cabbage tree to show that this is New Zealand. The early settlers who were determined to make this land in the likeness of their home country would be proud.
