Tower House

Scotland has many Tower Houses, and there are several in the Aberdeenshire area. They were substantial residences with defensive capability.

One of the best in Aberdeenshire is probably Craigievar. It has remained substantially unaltered, whereas many others have been expanded and made more commodious over the centuries.

This particular example is on a reduced scale. It is part of a series of pottery ornaments which I have seen on sale around the North East. As well as the tower house there is a church and other more modest dwellings.

This of course is all an excuse for having been distinctly idle today after the celebration yesterday evening.
