A day off would normally be nice and relaxing - but this was an 'emergency holiday' from work to make sure Mel was okay after the leg break yesterday. It also meant a lot of catching up, picking up a prescription for Mel, doing the grocery shopping that was going to be done yesterday evening, and generally keeping an eye on the invalid - with one brief, very brief, diversion on the way to doing the shopping.

Today the severity of the injury seems to have hit Mel - she's never suffered anything like this before, so the constant ache that comes with such a healing process, and which almost inevitably leads to feeling ill, has been getting to her. It's a pity I can't hang around tomorrow, but there's just too much going on at work at the moment. So Mel's dad should pop down tomorrow to alleviate the boredom for her of sitting alone in the house virtually immobile.

I've skipped the Japanese drumming tonight as well, there are some things that just have to take priority, and the welfare of those you love is pretty much right up there at the top of the priority list (which also means that despite going to work tomorrow I'm on the end of the phone if needed to come home).
