Farmer

This area is called Long Ji Rice Terraces. Today we walked to the village of Long Ji. It's a new are that's been open to tourists. It took about an hour to get there and the walk would have been amazing if there hadn't been heavy fog. I have been trying to get a 'real' pic to show people the scale of the rice terraces. They go up and up almost forever. I have put a super processed picture of what I mean on Flicker here if anyone is interested. The village itself was quite amazing. It was almost like stepping back in time. Although it is now open to tourists, it is only just starting to become commercial. Most of the buildings are original and the people were very friendly and helpful. They didn't charge the earth for stuff either.

Along the way we took lots of 'local' pics and this was the pic of the bunch. A farmer taking some stuff from one point to the other with his horse. They don't ride their horses here, they only use them to transport heavy stuff.

It was a very tough choice for Terri to make.. hehehehe

Back to Guilin tomorrow. It will be sad to leave the peace and tranquility of this place. There aren't too many [laces in China where you can only here the running of water and an occasional bird.
