William Gladstone

Back up and running on all four wheels - yippee, got her back tonight and bonus that it only cost £35 to recondition the starter motor.

Tonights blip is of William Ewart Gladstone who was Prime Minister of Britain four times (1868-74, 1880-85, 1886 and 1892-94).

This statue is in the grounds of St Deinol's lIbrary in Harwarden. In 1895, at the age of 85, Gladstone gave £40,000 (equivalent to approximately £22 million in 2006 terms) and much of his library to found St Deiniol's Library, which is the only residential library in Britain. Despite his age, he himself hauled most of his 32,000 books a quarter mile to their new home, using his wheelbarrow.

More about this man can be found here if you are interested, I found it fascinating.

Hope Wednesday has been a good one.

Still warm here but not as oppressive as it has been, have also finished the wallpapering
