Gatch Barn

Wednesday
It was hard to believe it was February 1st today, as the temperature topped out at almost 65F! I was walking at Sharon Woods this afternoon without a jacket, and I drove back with the sun roof open! As enjoyable as it was, its also rather worrying, as all the bulbs are coming up and some trees and shrubs are beginning to bud, and if and when we experience some real winter temperatures, things will be killed, or at least damaged. The other aspect is the bugs - the cold temperatures kill off a lot of the bugs, but with the mild winter we've had so far, we'll have an abundance of bugs come Spring and Summer. Still, for today it was a real treat, after all the grey gloomy days we had last month. This old barn is located in Heritage Village Museum, an open-air museum of twelve nineteenth-century structures from in and around the Cincinnati area.
Last year's blip, Freezing rain, is more typical of the weather we should be experiencing at this time of year!
