Tresor

I fulfilled a twenty year old ambition in the early hours of this morning. It would have been 1992 when I was going to Pure regularly that I first heard about Tresor. With the exception of a short gap from 2005 - 2007 when they were switching venues Tresor have put on underground techno nights in Berlin since 1991.

Last night was officially titles the Bonito House Club, but there wasn't any house music played while we were there, it was solid hard techno music. It was a great night though. The venue itself is a former power station near the river Spree. The upstairs bar is quite nicely done out, but the main dance floor has had very little done to it to keep the industrial feel. You get onto the dance floor by walking down a long tunnel with arc lights running up at it and progressively louder and heavier basslines as you get nearer. When you get to the dance floor it's bathed in red light and bursts of strobe.

The crowd was really good too and for a Wednesday night there were a good few hundred people there. The music was really good but Roz and I could only last until about three (From what I could gather it went on until either 6am or 9am, details were a bit vague).

Obviously this meant a long lie today, so we finally got up at 11.30. After a quick shower we met Alex and headed out for brunch at a turkish place near us called Esra where we had a great falafel plate then we headed down to the Bauhaus archive for a look. We spent ages there the only disappointment being that most of the furniture they were showing was by Marcel Breuer, which was nice enough but I far prefer Mies Van Der Rohe's chairs.

There was a great collection of photos of the Katsura imperial villa taken by Ishimoto Yasuhiro, initially for a book in conjunction with Walter Gropius but there were also later photos too.

After that we had a potter around the shops, or more specifically the lego shop Roz found before heading back to meet Anna for dinner.

Packing and an early night tonight then home in the morning.
