Landing

Note: this is one day off, happened the 30th actually, but due to the camera being still on uk time it appears on the 31st. I didnt notice it until after I had submitted it.

Travelling to Iowa, where my "less driven half" (he didnt like 'lazier half', oh well) comes from. Let's call him Mr Curious, it sure fits :D

Iowa is not the most glamorous place on earth, but this year with all the rain and flooding it's almost as green as England. And the temperatures are a lot nicer than England.

Any Iowans on blip?

We're doing this so we can drive halfway across the country to Colorado for a week's holiday, then drive back.

With all the driving back and forth between England and Switzerland we've been doing I am not looking forward to yet another 2 days sat in a car. It does give him time to catch up with his dad, and that's what matters.

This is central Iowa from the plane, around 6:30pm. They tried to make everything fit a grid. One must wonder what growing up in a country with only one language and culture and everything on a grid does to people's personalities. I remember how confused Mr. Curious was when he first drove in europe and was confronted by our notion of "straight ahead" (which means stay on the main road as it curves off) and many other ways of thinking which are normal over here in Europe.

In the next few days we'll be saying hello to a lot of people, picking bikes and packing a van and several cars, prior to taking 11 people and assorted stuff all the way to Colorado. I'll be back blipping in bursts and hopefully there'll be some interesting thoughts to share.
