What I've Done

Derwentwater from Manesty woods

A fabulous day today - nothing as planned. We had intended to drive down to Rydal Water in the hope of catching some snow, but passing by Derwent, we could see low clouds hanging over the lake, so we took a "quick" detour, planning to follow on to Rydal later.

It never happened, Derwentwater had great clouds hanging over it, they started to clear, so the lighting was like yesterdays shot, and by late afternoon, we were working by the edge of the lake, where the margins had frozen.

For this shot, I had to put the camera on live view, set the tripod as low as possible, and gradually push it out over the ice until the hole in the ice made an interesting shape; I could then fire the release with a remote cable, and pull the tripod and camera back to safety!
